Weeds . . .
Anne Benedict, Chair of the Art Gallery Committee, has introduced us to Jenny Buck, a photographic artist and a mechanical engineer and practicing product designer from Mantoloking, New Jersey. Jenny has taught undergraduate engineering and graduate product design. Her pictures of weeds are "ground-breaking, earth-shattering, fabulous," to quote one resident whose amazement reflected what each of us was thinking.
Here is Jenny Buck standing in front of an arrangement of her work.

At the end of the hallway from time to time we see several shows by one person.
Beth Wham's art, seen at right, is one such entry that has fascinated us.
In January and February, the work of Jules Weber, an artist of distinction in New Jersey, was been displayed in the Meadow Lakes Art Gallery.
The oil paintings have been done with pallette knife for the most part and each has intricate patterns within it.
Watercolor Exhibit
Three talented Filipino-American watercolorists exhibited their work at the Meadow Lakes Art Gallery in October 2010. Gerry Kimble, one of the talented watercolorists and teachers among Meadow Lakes residents, says that she went every day to study and learn from their work.
The three men, Angelito David, Oscar Dizon and Jose Dureza have published a book of their work, Transparent Colors, Filipino-American Watercolorists, with text by Maria Therese Lapid Rodriguez. The book can be ordered from the XLibris online bookstore via the Internet at www.XLibris.com/bookstore. Book ID # 38310.

HomeFront Artists on display
A selection of paintings, poetry, and drawings done by participants in a HomeFront art class were displayed through July 2010 in the Meadow Lakes Art Gallery.
Art is an important avenue of expression for those who are homeless. It helps to break the cycle of poverty for those who depend on HomeFront for assistance. At right are two examples of paintings done by members of a HomeFront art class.

The Story of the Meadow Lakes Art Gallery
The first major show in the new Meadow Lakes Art Gallery was the 43rd New Jersey Senior Citizens Annual Art Contest and Exhibition. The event was open to the public during October 2009 with a closing reception and award ceremony, workshops, and gallery talks on the last day of the month.
Entry into the show was limited to the winners selected by the judges at each New Jersey county's art show. Meadow Lakes residents look forward to holding this successful show again next year.
The PHS Senior Living Foundation contributed a Walker Display System to create the Meadow Lakes Art Gallery. Located between the Lakeside Cafe and the Bridge, the gallery is to be a permanent showplace for art from a variety of sources including work of our own residents.
